Update on the timeline for retiring monkeys

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Izzle the rhesus monkey is seen here playing with a mirror, one of his favorite activities. He is waiting for us. We had to move on from our former contractor, because he did not complete the timeline for Izzle. We have hired a new and amazing contractor, and now things are in full force over this winter, so Izzle (and Mars and River!) can hopefully be retired by the end of January to the Primates Inc. sanctuary. Please visit www.primatesinc.com/support to make your year-end, tax-deductible contribution. Thank you! **Primates Incorporated believes the very least labs and society can do is give back to these amazing creatures whenever possible by sending them to a sanctuary** Thanks for helping us fulfill our vision.

Calling all Businesses!

Updated January 5th, 2018 Happy New Year! Thank you for finding us and for reading this post! We could use your help! We are wondering if you might have any extra materials or supplies that will help us fulfill our non-profit mission of constructing a much-needed indoor/outdoor monkey sanctuary near Westfield, WI that will provide permanent homes to monkeys retiring from research facilities, the pet monkey trade, and the entertainment industry. I worked in a lab 15 years ago with 97 rhesus monkeys, which inspired me to form Primates Incorporated. I thought the very least we could do is send them to an enriching and spacious sanctuary after their time in research, don’t you agree? For additional donation opportunities, please view our wish list here: http://www.primatesinc.com/support/wishlist/ We also have sponsorship opportunities here: http://www.primatesinc.com/store/ We are set to complete construction and retire the first three male rhesus monkeys by February 2018…

Thank you Midwest Modern for the Innovative Sanctuary Plans!

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Thanks so much to Kyle Dumbleton and Midwest Modern for translating our vision into a reality! This first indoor/outdoor structure will be capable of housing up to 20 Old World monkeys. We aim to construct four more of these innovative structures over the next ten years to retire up to 100 monkeys from research facilities, the pet trade, and the entertainment industry. During the day, the monkeys will always be able to enter the greenhouse enclosures in the wintertime. The monkeys will also be able to dwell in the outdoor enclosures during the nice weather we have here in Wisconsin 🙂 Please visit www.primatesinc.com/support to help us get this first monkey sanctuary model up and running and helping our first three rhesus monkeys this fall! The walls are up, the well is in, the septic permit is approved, and the mobile home for the animal care staff and the greenhouses are…

Bob Barker Makes More Dreams Come True for the Primates Incorporated Monkey Sanctuary

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Bob Barker, a well-known celebrity and animal advocate, formed the DJ&T foundation in 1995 to assist with spaying and neutering cats and dogs. The foundation has since broadened its guidelines to help other animal causes. As a result, Primates Inc. received a $50,000 donation from the foundation in 2015, which helped us begin constructing the foundation for the sanctuary building. We spoke to the Foundation’s trustee in May about our progress.  We filled out a grant proposal to assist us in covering 1/3 of the building costs and 1/3 of the operating costs. We just found out last week that the foundation fulfilled our grant request! His donation, combined with the recent foundation donations, a contribution from the laboratory who created a waiting list for the first monkey retirees, and public support have allowed us to raise $197,000 toward our goal of $385,000 (the amount needed to launch the sanctuary…

Thank You to Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics for Your Generous Donation!

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Thank you!! Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics provided very generous donation that will help us complete our sanctuary site construction! We greatly appreciate their support! They are one of our Company Heroes. Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics have been long-time supporters of many important causes, including animal welfare and advocacy organizations. We asked for funding through their straightforward grant proposal process, and we received our funding request within three weeks! When shopping at their website, www.lushusa.com, please comment to them that you appreciate that they support helping the monkeys retire from research facilities. The grant director stated: “Lush is a company actively fighting animal testing in labs, and believe that the least that should be done for primates, and all animals that have been used in testing for human gain, is to provide them a better quality of life, in a sanctuary with open spaces and good care for their remaining time.” We…
